Dreamy Escape to Nobu Hotel Los Cabos

If you’re anything like us, you’ve spent the better part of 2020 just dreaming of a getaway. This year (for everyone) hit a giant pause button on travel, and after 6 months in one place we decided it was time for a getaway— to beautiful Los Cabos, Mexico. Tara has just entered her 3rd trimester of pregnancy, so it was our window for a little babymoon, and the easy flight made Los Cabos the dream destination.

We’ll post a full round-up of our time in Los Cabos, but the final stop of our trip was the stunning Nobu Hotel Los Cabos. You may know the Nobu name from their high-end sushi establishments, but the sushi empire has expanded into hotels and Nobu Hotel Los Cabos is exactly what you would hope for from a master of curated Japanese hospitality. The same attention to detail is on brilliant display here on the rugged pacific coast of Mexico’s Baja California Sur.

Think minimal, airy, Japanese-inspired design, thoughtfully curated gathering spaces, lush pools and a property that blend seamlessly into the dreamy desert setting and of course, world-class dining options. Like any thoughtfully created property, Nobu leaves room for you to shape your stay however you desire. Rejuvenating spa days, romantic beach bonfires, a weekend getaway with friends, high-end epicurean experiences or family time in one of the many pool options— Nobu has it all. They’ve masterfully created a space that feels like an oasis of peace and privacy, even amidst a sprawling property.

And of course, it wouldn’t be fair to talk about this property without sharing the amazing food options. In case the pools, the design, the location and the vibe doesn’t convince you— let’s talk food. Nobu Cafe in the lobby is great for coffee, snacks, and an evening cocktail. Malibu Farm has an outpost on the property offering organic farm-to-table dishes, Pacific Restaurant presents an elevated local Mexican menu, and of course Nobu’s namesake, Nobu Restaurant, is not to be missed.

Bottom line: Quiet location, thoughtfully designed, inspiring architecture, vibe on point, excellent food and good price. Recommend 100%.

A few things to note:

Nobu is a bit further from SJD airport than many Los Cabos hotels, located in the exclusive Diamante Community. So, the trip to the property is a bit longer and more expensive than other hotels— but that’s a small price to pay for the seclusion and serenity of this dreamy location beyond the hostel and bustle. Food in the resort is also fairly expensive, so if you’re looking for more options you’ll need to take a taxi into town.

Uber is not allowed to pick up at Nobu. You’ll need to book private tours or their on-site transfer, which is around $100 to the airport.

The weekend naturally draws a slightly more active crowd, so if that’s what you’re looking for, its a perfect lively weekend getaway. If you’re after a quieter trip, book during the week.

The beach outside the resort is stunning, but you cannot swim in the water due to strong tide and currents. But don’t worry, the pools at the beach’s edge will more than satisfy your desire to swim!
